Intense Pulsed Light and Laser treatments use advanced light technology to treat unsightly blood vessels that appear on the surface of the skin. Very short, precisely targeted pulses of light are sent into the skin, heating the identified blood vessel to a point where it is destroyed. The problem vessels shrink over the following weeks and are re-absorbed by the body.
Intense Pulsed Light is an advanced technology treatment with many benefits over the traditional techniques such as Diathermy and Sclerotherapy. Invasive and requiring several long-term treatment sessions, the latter involve the insertion of a needle into the vein and the application of a current or chemical to kill the vessel.
Intense Pulsed Light however offers fast treatment times and patients experience just a very moderate sensation during the light application. There is no damage to surface skin and treatments typically take just 15 to 45 minutes, depending on the type and size of lesion. With each treatment the number of visible vessels decline, leading to complete removal in a course of 3 – 6 treatments.
