A safe and well established procedure treating unsightly and uncomfortable thread veins on the leg, coupled with expert advice on treating and preventing vein problems.
Dr Máire Rhatigan is proud to announce the addition of Sclerotherapy to the wide range of treatments available at the Orchard Cosmetic Skin Centre. Patients can now benefit from Dr Rhatigan’s expert knowledge of thread vein management and the proven and effective Sclerotherapy treatment to remove problem thread veins.
Many of us suffer from thread or varicose veins. They occur when the valves in our veins are struggling to work at full capacity and cannot push the blood around as well as they should - the result of sitting or standing for long periods of time, inactivity or even inherited traits. Sclerotherapy, coupled with Dr Rhatigan’s comprehensive knowledge and advice on the subject can help to alleviate current symptoms and prevent future, more serious venous problems.
Sclerotherapy works by using a very fine needle to inject a solution into the uppermost surfaces of the vein. This causes the lining of the vein to swell and become sticky. Compression is then applied to close the veins. Over a period of time the vein will heal closed, and fade away. When used in combination with laser treatment, Sclerotherapy gives reliably successful results.
The results achieved after one treatment vary from one client to another. You should budget for a minimum of 4 treatments spaced 6 to 12 weeks apart and you can expect an improvement in their appearance of 60 – 80%.
To complement the treatment, patients are offered Graduated Compression Hosiery. A modern range of socks, stockings and tights that exert an external Graduated Compression on the legs, compensating for the incompetent valves and providing relief from poor circulation. Please visit the above page for more information on the hosiery.
Dr Rhatigan is a member of the British Association of Sclerotherapists.
Sclerotherapy treatment session is £ 200.00, which at the first session includes a free pair of Sigvaris thigh-high compression stockings.
Please note that a full consultation is required prior to treatment and that an Advice Note to Patients is available from the Orchard Cosmetic Skin Centre which gives patients advice on possible side effects, risks, and before and after treatment instructions. This should be fully considered prior to treatment. Please contact us for more details.
