Sculptra™
Over time, your skin loses its full, firm, youthful appearance. This is the result of a natural ageing process: your skin is damaged, becomes thinner, or loses its natural elasticity. As a result, it becomes loose and starts to wrinkle. Fat tissue, which also helps to fill out your face, is lost, causing skin to sag and further wrinkle. This reduction in skin volume can make your face look thin and narrow, possibly making you appear older than you are. Fortunately, Sculptra™ may smooth lines and wrinkles and help your skin regain a firm and youthful appearance by restoring skin volume you may have naturally lost.
Enhance your appearance with Sculptra™
With Sculptra™, you can restore facial contour and get rid of lines and wrinkles without surgery. Sculptra™ is a synthetic, injectable material that contains skin-smoothing microparticles to help lift and smooth sagging skin, severe wrinkles, creases, dark circles, and scars.
Sculptra™, made of poly-L-lactic acid, is injected into the deep dermis or subcutaneous layer and is ideal in particular for:
- Replacing lost volume caused by ageing
- Deep folds and wrinkles
- Scars
- Volume defects
- Contour enhancement
Why Sculptra?
Sculptra is a discrete approach which allows a gradual natural effect to occur. Usually 2 or 3 treatments are required and natural looking effects should become noticeable after approximately six weeks.
Clinical studies have shown that the results of Sculptra can last for more than 3 years, significantly longer than other treatments
It is well tolerated with over 17,000 treatments in the UK since 2005. The main ingredient of Sculptra has been used in medicine for over 10 years and is biocompatible, biodegradable and well tolerated.
No allergy testing is required before treatment
Frequently asked questions
Does the Treatment Hurt?
As with all injections you will feel some discomfort. It may be that you notice a brief burning sensation at injection site.
What must I bear in, mind after treatment?
At the clinic you will be given special aftercare instructions. These include massaging the treated areas of the face twice a day for 2 weeks after treatment. Inform your healthcare professional if any side effects occur, for example inflammation of small bumps in the treated area.
Are they any side effects?
The most common side effect includes bleeding, tenderness or pain, redness, bruising or swelling at the site of injection. These side effects generally resolve in 2-6 days. One possible delayed side effect with Sculptra can be small bumps under the skin in the treated area. These small bumps may not be visible, and you may notice them only when you press in the treated skin. These bumps tend to happen within the first 6 to 12 months after the first treatment. Occasionally these bumps go away on their own. Visible bumps, sometimes associated with redness or colour change to the treated area have also been reported.
