Pigmented Lesion and Sun Spot removal with Intense Pulsed Light

“Safe and complete removal of dark skin patches on the face, neck and back of hands”

Dark patches of skin on our face, neck and hands are the result of excess melanin in the surface of our skin, which occurs as a natural response to ageing and exposure to sun. Intense Pulsed Light treatments release precisely controlled, strong pulses of filtered light that are absorbed by the excess melanin, creating heat that destroys the uppermost pigmented skin cells and stimulating renewed, non-pigmented cells to replace them.

Intense Pulsed Light has several benefits over the traditional treatment methods of dermabrasion, chemical peels and bleaching. The light pulse also stimulates the growth of new collagen and elastin fibres in the skin, which improves firmness and overall texture, helping to overcome the effects of sun damage. This means that it can effectively treat fine lines and wrinkles at the same time!

The treatment is suitable for everyone, apart from very dark skinned or tanned individuals. However not all pigmented lesions can be treated, for example dark moles or lesions covering a large part of the body. Dr Rhatigan is an experienced practitioner and can give patients advice on their suitability for treatment and the expected outcomes.

A typical treatment session is 15 to 30 minutes and typically 1 – 3 treatments will be needed for complete success. Treatments should take place approximately every 4 – 6 weeks.

All treatments are preceded by a full consultation and test patches, (for Intense Pulsed Light and Laser treatments), undertaken by Dr Rhatigan. This ensures that each client receives the treatment most suited to their own beauty and health needs. There will be time during this consultation to answer any questions or queries you may have about the treatment.
